Walk-a-Thon Information Packets went home with students on August 31st. This packet contains all the information needed to start raising money for our ​Walk-a-Thon.
All Preschool-5th grade students are encouraged to ask friends and family for monetary donations. Then on Wednesday, September 20th at 10am all students will participate in a fun Walk-a-Thon event. The Walk-a-Thon will include student participation activities, music, prizes, and, of course, fun for all!

100% of the money raised through the Walk-a-Thon goes directly to our students. All proceeds will be used to provide greater access to technology, support student learning through field trips, and boost student engagement with learning supplies and materials in the classroom.

Please take some time to look over the Walk-a-Thon information packet with your child, especially the prize sheet. We have tons of great prizes!!!!

Please return all money in the white envelope enclosed in the packet by Friday, September 15th.

To make the Walk-a-Thon event a huge success, we need as many volunteers as possible. Help setting up is needed starting at 7 am the morning of the 20th at the football field. Can’t come at 7? Volunteers Needed

“I am the coach of the Kent City HS Forensics Team. My students compete in events like storytelling, poetry recitation, informative speeches, oratory, dramatic interpretation, broadcasting, and sales. We have three meets: Feb 2, Feb 16, and March 2. I need judges to attend these meets with us. The bus leaves Kent City High School at 2:05 pm so that we can arrive at the host schools by 3:05 pm. There are 3 rounds to judge, so you will be finished by 7:00 pm or so. We will give you the criteria to judge each event. Most inexperienced judges feel nervous at first, but get the hang of it quickly. You just provide students with a little written feedback and constructive criticism to help them improve their performances. Mobile Dentist

The elementary school is looking for help on Wednesday, January 25th, Thursday, January 26, and Monday, January 30th. The Mobile Dentist will be at school all day and they are in need of volunteers to help with bringing students back/forth from class. Any time you can offer would be great! End of the Year Sno-Cones for all KC students!


It’s almost the end of the school year and we would like to reward all of Kent City’s students for a job well done.  We will be providing them with yummy sno-cones and we need help to make that possible!  We will update with exact times as the dates draw closer.  Please check out the link below to sign up and help with this huge undertaking!


PTCO Board Elections 5/23/16

Please come to our PTCO meeting on Monday, 5/23/16, to help us get ready to wrap up this school year.  In addition, voting for PTCO Board members will take place that evening.  Please come vote and have your voice heard.  If you are unable to attend the meeting on 5/23/16, please go to any school office to pick up a ballot and follow the instructions to use it as an absentee ballot. Finally, Elementary Principal Pam Thomas will be in attendance to give us some highlights of exciting things at the Elementary!

Sno-Cone Help Needed

We would like to sell sno-cones at two home track meets next week, but we need some help to do so. On Wednesday the 18th, Kent City is hosting a Middle School Invitational starting at 3 pm and on Friday, the 20th there will be a High School meet starting at 1:30. Last Elementary Box Tops Competition of the School Year

Next week (May 16-20) is the last Box Top competition in the elementary school for the school year. The top two collecting classes will be rewarded with an exciting treat. So please send in all Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels for Education, Aunt Millie’s School Spirit and Tyson’s A+ labels with your children. Sadly, after 42 years, Campbell’s is discontinuing their Labels for Education program after this school year, so please check your cupboards for any and all Campbell’s Labels for Education.

Teacher Appreciation Brunch

Next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation week.  In honor of that, the PTCO would like to thank the employees of Kent City Schools with a brunch.  This will take place on Monday, 5/2/16 at the elementary school and Tuesday, 5/3/16 at the middle and high schools.  Please consider donating something to show your appreciation for all of their hard work.  These items need to be at the school by 9:15 am the day of the brunch.  Thank you! Junior Achievement at the Elementary!

Junior Achievement will be starting soon at KCE, grades K-3 will be participating this year. JA provides all the materials for each classroom. 1 (or 2) volunteers are needed to lead the instruction. There are 9 classrooms that need to be covered, so 6 more volunteers are needed. There are 5 classroom visits that are approx. 30 minutes long over a 5 week period. Preparation time is approx. half hour for each class. This is a very rewarding volunteer opportunity and a great way to give back to the school.

Potential volunteers can be prior students of KCE, business partners in the community or parents of children in higher grades. Class instruction will start next week. However, some classes could start a week later, if needed, to secure volunteers.
